WHAT WE DODeferred Action for Childhood Arrivals

Deferred action for childhood arrivals, or DACA, is a program that was introduced by the Obama administration as a remedial measure to address the large number of people who were brought to the United States as children.

DACA was available to individuals who entered the United States before their 16th birthday, have no criminal history, and are in school or have graduated already. DACA allows these individuals to remain in the United States for a period of time, without fear of deportation, and allows them to obtain a permit to work lawfully.

Unfortunately the Trump administration has sought to end DACA. Currently, new applications for DACA are not being accepted, however, individuals who already hold DACA status, and are set to expire, may renew their status for the time being.
